A Style as Smooth as Butter: Louis Vuitton Launches the LV Buttersoft Sneaker

What could be better than an emblematic, 60s-inspired sneaker designed by none other than the fashion mastermind, Pharrell Williams? Louis Vuitton is introducing the LV Buttersoft Sneaker as part of its Fall-Winter 2025 Collection, and the name speaks for itself. Crafted from a soft, buttery leather, the style highlights Louis Vuitton’s commitment to craftsmanship and impeccable details.

House Ambassador Callum Turner fronts the campaign in a series of portraits, which seamlessly blend the British actor’s charismatic artistic flair with the LV BUTTERSOFT Sneaker’s characteristic expression.

Proposed in twenty-four different colorways, the shoe embodies a fusion of dandyism and streetwear prevalent in Pharrell’s everyday wardrobe. Much of Pharrell’s style is rooted in streetwear, as seen in his early looks, which were solid representations of 2000s hip-hop culture. He continues to strike a balance between the effortless and edgy and the luxurious and polished, which is exactly what these shoes achieve.

Before leather sneakers reigned supreme, canvas was the standard, and the LV Buttersoft runners draw inspiration from the early leather sneaker silhouettes of 60s sportswear. Ranging from sandy neutrals to Bordeaux red and khaki green, the color selection is something to admire. The shoe embodies Pharrell’s vision in every detail, featuring iconic monogrammed “LV” patches and embossed silhouettes of his face on the shoes’ tongues.

Speaking of details, the shoe is meticulously crafted by the Italian artisans at Louis Vuitton. Each detail is more elaborate than the last. The buttery leather rests on a rubber sole engraved with the traditional grain de riz texture. A tiny lobster is hidden on the back of the shoe, paying tribute to Pharrell’s memories with designer Nigo, the other mastermind behind the collection.

Combining the comfort of a running shoe with the elegance of a formal shoe, this sneaker defies traditional dress codes, and it is already selling out before its official release. They’re now available for pre-order on LouisVuitton.com and the brand’s app. Stay tuned for the official launch on July 10th, as they will be available in stores.
